Qigong and a Healthy Halloween

My husband and I just got back from a short trip to Austin, TX to visit friends. While we were there we had the opportunity of being led in the meditative practice of QiGong. Qigong uses movement along with controlled breathing to help circulate Qi throughout the body. It was a great experience and something that anyone can learn and do.
According to the Qigong Association- The regular practice of Qigong can prevent and treat illness, reduce stress and establish balance, and also bring peace by integrating the mind, body, and spirit. Sounds like almost everyone could benefit from a little Qigong. To read more about Qigong click here

We also celebrated Halloween this weekend and we all know what that means...CANDY! Well, a little bit of candy every now and then can definitely be tolerated, but I thought that I might let you know some of the better choices. You can click on the name of the candy to check out the nutritional info.

York Peppermint Patty

Dove Dark Chocolate Bar

M&M minis-1 oz package

Milk Duds

Pixy Stix

Sweet Tarts

Smarties

While eating candy does not have a whole lot of nutritional value I think it is okay every now and then. Just remember that YOU must control the portion sizes. When you only eat a little at a time it can make a big difference in the end. Hope everyone had a healthy and safe Halloween!
